suspected suspension noise in the rear.

i have a 2003 4.4 with 110,000 miles. im hearing some noise comming from the back of my x5. it sounds like i have something loose in the rear spare tire compartment. i have removed all the stuff out of the compartment to see if it would stop. it did not. i had a friend drive around with me in the back and it seems to be comming fron the suspension. has anyone had this problem or know what it is and how much to fix it. i do all my own work. thanks.
