Very sad!!!

I've passed/met several X5s on the road recently and not a single wave/greeting was returned by the other driver. I miss being in Germany where everyone greeted everyone else.

I give a thumbs up to all nicely modded cars but they tend to think I want to race them. So they floor it.

Hahaha that only happened to me when I'm giving them a thumbs up if they're not driving the same car as I am.

I'll nod at other X's that have been modded. I realize that not all X5'rs pay attention to their X's as some of us do. I live in NYC so it's definitely not common for a nod to be reciprocated. Now, out in open water on a boat or jet-ski is a whole other attitude.

I don't think I have ever seen another BMW driver wave at another one unless they own an awesome e30 or 2002. The only group of cars I see that wave at one another other than Harley owners are Mini owners.

My parents bought a Mini when I was in college and I had it for a week when my 5-er was getting the Dinan stuff installed and every Mini I saw the owner waved to me.

LOL! Jeff..that is so true man!!

I see dudes sweat my ride all the time... I'll give them the head nod at best......bu then they want to race me.......it's always the sleepers that pay you the most compliments.....like at the gym the other day......guy comes up to me and says..."i've seen some X5's, but not like this"......then ofcourse I start going down the grocery list of mods.....

Nowadays..everyone is out for themselves and who has the "hotter ride"........

I was sitting in traffic on I95 in New haven CT- the long warf area.....typical after work congestion.....this is where I91 merges with I 95 in southern ct... so - i'm sitting there doing stop and go and out of no where a 2002/3 3.0 i black...with two 20 year old chicks cuts right in front of me......................eventually I got around them and dropped her into 4th.....u know with the Dinan and all I was "ghost"......but they kept coming and coming... funny....point is I was like a target for them.....

wierd peeps man!

Rich

Wow, funny story! I had a similar experience today! I had to work at a different location today, so it was a 55 miles commute one way for me this morning.

I am driving along to work going about 80MPH, and I notice in my rear-view this car coming up pretty quickly. Once it gets a little closer I notice its a facelift X5, and I assume its a 3.0i since that's really all I see around here.

Since the guy is in an obvious hurry, I pull into the center lane to let him go by. He pulls even to me, I look over and give him a "WHAT'S UP!" nod. The D-bag does a quick blip on the gas pedal like he wants to race me! I think to myself WTF! This guy is in a 3.0i, is there something under the hood that I should be worried about?!!?

At this point, I am just highly annoyed by the guy. I point down to the side badge that says 4.8is, just to show him he doesn't stand a chance. Then he gives it another blip.

So, its time to loose the sucker. A quick downshift and a mash on the accelerator and he was in my rear-view rather quickly. For the rest of my drive to work he stayed well behind me he knew better.

How's the saying go? Other BMW driver hate other BMW drivers. I think that hold true unless you are part of a BMW club, like XOutpost.

I'm very familiar with that area, but unfortunately, people tend to drive very nasty in that area on the evening commute after a long work day. On a positive note, there's a nice guy in Middletown that blinked his lights at me as I approached him coming down the road - very nice Estoril Blue I believe, no mods that I could see - we need to talk him into some nice LED Tails!!!
