I've been rear-ended twice in my life, both times while in stopped traffic.

Watching a car get bigger and bigger in your rear view mirror is horrifying. Being able to think fast at times like that is, as they say, priceless.

The funny thing about this situation was that I was on my way to show a client an assault rifle and had a man sized steel target. The target was the only reason I wasn't either driving my M3 or my 93 Integra GSR. Had I been driving either one of those and been in the same accident I would have been way worse off. Had I been in the M3 and gotten hit, I would have probably been charge with discharging a firearm within city limits. The first question I asked the stunned driver of the van was, "you'd better have insurance!!! Tell me you have insurance?" Then I called a friend to make the gun go away and then 911. LOL Not to worry. The firearm was transported in a legal fashion and was fully registered but I didn't need more questions asked above why I had a human steel target in my trunk.
