2003 4.4 (hers) gets 23 on highway (24 if no mtns to run in) and about 19 on the OBC with city and highway combined. With perfect conditions on Interstate speed limit driving we can get almost 600 miles per tank.

2003 4.6is (his) got 20 mpg on a combined hwy/town/twisty turny 4000 mile road trip last fall. MPG goes down the faster you go (like 85 vs 75mph) because it has a lower gear ratio than the 4.4. 75 mph at 2500 rpm on the 4.4 vs 75 mph at 2950 rpm on the 4.6.

Here's in Brazil we calculate that using km/l. My 4.8 does 5,2km/l on city and 7,2 on the road...

14.2 worst - 22.1 best (so far...)

2002 4.6is; Driving the same stretch of road under similar conditions, I got 17.4 mpg driving her the way I normally would and got 22.1 mpg driving her with a very conscience effort and not as much fun...

65 mph max on the interstate vs 75+ mph, easy starts, letting off the gas early and coasting to a stop.... netted 22.1 mpg

On a long (Highway) trip, I suppose I could muster a few more mpgs...

4.8IS was at 18.6 on last fill-up. That's with Northern VA traffic, so not to shabby

Filled up a couple times on a road trip last week to test. I got about 18-9MPG on a highway trip. Spent some miles in town showing off the car (and the V8). THAT netted me about 11-12. The return trip was a bit worse than the trip up, but I averaged a WAY higher speed.

2004 4.8is with (now) 14,200 miles.

My 2004 3.0 on the same stretch got much less on the highway if I drove aggressively. But I could still net about 15-16 in the city. A little give and take it seems.

My 30.i 06 x5 never gets more than 16 mpg . I get a bit confused with these posts as different countries have different litres per gallon . England 4.5 litres per gallon U.S. 3.8 litres per gallon. So I dont know whether 16 is average or not.

My average is always around 16.2 to 16.5 MPG on mixed drive.

even if I go for a long trip say SF bay area to Reno, I only get about 18mpg.

04 4.4i stock with 19" sport wheel.
