replaced the battery and made sure it was fully charged. dont use any aftermarket stereo equipment. the electrical systems in these gremlins are very sensitive. IMO.

We tried charging the batter for almost 3 hours and saw no change. I am almost certain this is the problem. Im going to replace the battery today pray this fixes it considering I have someone coming to buy the thing saturday.

Holy crap! Yeah, get that battery in there. You should refer the buyer to this site, but hope he doesn't see this post!

some folks have had strange problems caused by a faulty ignition switch
i`m not sure if all your issues could be caused by it
sometimes damaged wiring or just corroded connectors can cause problems
i replied to your pm explaining the causes of my similar problems , i hope it can be of some help to you .
have you checked the battery connections are good .

OK new update. I took the battery out of our M5 and put it in my X and we let the car sit and we turned on all the accesories and the battery got drawn down to 10 volts and started throwing warnings. We kept the car on and went a local battery store, alternator tested out bad two times. The car had a lower volt reading at 2000 rpm then just at regular idle. We assume the car was having an intermittent alternator issue. We are going to replace the alternator and that should be it.

At least it finally tested bad after testing good all those times. But that's what it sounded like to me from the start. At least you have the air cooled alternator rather than the water cooled.... Those water cooled bastards cost twice as much, I know from experience.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I have an 06 4.4i and just dropped off the car for the second time this week. Similar problem. While driving local, car would have a slight jerk (feel like I ran over a box), 4X4 light on and nav screen would go off then on.

First visit they thought it was the faulty valve intake drive motor and replaced it. The car does drive smoother now but two day later same problem.

Thanx

I posted these exact same symptoms a few months back. X has been fine since until 3 weeks ago. While I was driving around town I noticed my Radar Detector Was saying "LOW VOLTAGE". I was like Crap, need a new Radar Detector. Then DING!!!! Al the lights popped up again! Transfailsafe, Engine Failsafe, Low tire, DSC, etc etc etc. Radio went off and limped home in 3rd gear. Shut truck off and all was fine...WTF? X has been fine since but I have seen that LOW VOLTAGE on the Radar a few times and shut off the X and restarted and it goes away. Let me guess.....Alternator?
