md,
Run with the extended warranty that pays the BMW Center or Indy shop electronically via credit card. The last thing that a customer wants is to have to pay for major repairs and then have to wait on the reimbursement check from their extended warranty company. Not a good way of doing business IMO.

I do too have the CarMax Max Care. So far so good, they took care of every single problem I had. All together I had about $6500 of work done on mine ($5000k for the cooling problem and about $1500k of minor things like windows regulator, oil sensor, central armrest replaced, etc...). I paid $1800 for a 3 years 36k.

I had forgotten about those communist Lake muskrats that climb on boats and eat the wiring and props,

I can vouch for WarrantyDirect as well. We have made 4 claims with two different BMW dealers. Each time they paid over the phone no quesitons asked. The dealer didn't have a problem either. Very smooth.

I've so far had nearly $2,000 in work done through the warranty on my X. I'd recommend you get an extended warranty, but get a SOLID one.

Good luck,

JV
JV,

Can you give us any idea what this "secret weapon" is?
