Everyone,

Thanks for all the helpful info. I am going to call my dealer this morning. If they have no issues with accepting Warranty Direct and plan to keep accepting them in the future, then I am going to pull the trigger and go with the WD 4/100,000 with $200 deductable and full emissions coverage. This plan runs around $2800. It sounds like it may be money well spent. I am now beginning to realize that its a pay now or pay later situation with these vechicles. If you're gonna keep em long term then you're certainly going to pay. I am just choosing to pay now.

Mark

What's the price difference between $200 deductible and $0. We got the LuxuryCare (the most coverage), for not much more than that with no deductible. At the time (March) , the difference between $100 and $0 deductible was not more than $300. You're going to be spending a LOT of money just paying that. Most of the things you take it in for probably won't even be more than $100.

For Luxury care and $0 deductable they quoted me $4481. For Securecare with emmissions, $0 deductable and 4/100,000 its $4000. For a 3/75000 at $200 deductable its $2500, for 3/75,000 and $0 dedctable its $3150. I guess the prices have gone up a bit. I am probably going to take either the $100 or $200 deductable plan as I am not really looking to get every penny out of having this. I am looking at this more like insurance to cover me in case of catastrophic failure of something expensive like an engine, tranny, differential etc. Something where paying $200 wont seem like much compared to the total bill. I hope it never happens.

Does anybody know if these sorts of plans are available in the UK? Mine warranty runs out in just less than 1 year and I`d be interested in something like this.

How do those prices compare to BMW"S warranty program and how does BMW differ in service?

Is your X already out of warranty? We got ours in March this year, and as we were finalizing it over the phone the guy said that their prices were going to go up in the following month, but damn, I never realized they would go up this much. We got out LuxuryCare (4yr/100k)with $0 deductible for just over $3000; this was a month before the factory warranty expired.

The BMW extended warranty is only available to the original owner. It is basically the CPO warranty. Nothing more. Personally, I'm not very impressed with it because it really only is a powertrain warranty.

My X5 is still under warranty but not for long. I have 49,750 on the clock and the time expiration is 15 Mar 2006. So it looks like they raised the price $1400 for the same plan. Maybe the prices have something to do with the state you live in? Maybe I can negotiate a lower price over the phone.

I didn't think about that. It could very well be a possibility. Regardless, you won't be dissapointed with your purchase. They are great.
