Yeah, that he'll dump more and more money into his 700 hp 911, but more money to upgrade the wife to a pepper s or 4.8is because the 4.4 is a dog? Preposterous!

Wife doesnt care and wont even know the difference even with a 4.8 , she thinks 4.4 is super fast..911 upgrades are totally worthwhile, atleast for me , my wife wouldnt even sit in it to go around the block , she is so scared!! . If i get the pepper maybe i should go all out and get the pepper tt.

Looks like you already had the 4.6 question well answered, but good to hear from another (even if former) GSP person. It is a great place, and even more pertinent to this forum, BMW opening the plant there in the early/mid 90's really was the catalyst that completely transformed the area.

Enjoy that 996---sounds like a helluva ride. (hope you upgraded the brakes too!!!)

Cheers,
JT

Yeah , i went to Clemson for grad school so spent good bit of my 2 years in the area. I also interned at the BMW spartanburg factory, this was basically when they started it all as part of Clemson Michelin Motorsports Program. Loved it a lot.

The 911 has pagid yellow's for track duty , on street it holds pretty good with the stock pads, castrol SRF brake fluid and brembos which came with the car. The car is built like a tank , i am still AWD at 700 +tq level.

Glad it helped. You may have to do this every once in a while as the computers will re-learn slow driving. Especially if your wife babies it.

Why would you pay nearly $125k for a Pepper Turbo S when you could buy an X5 M (which is a faster better handling SUV) for $85k and have enough in savings to buy your wife an e53 4.8is and still have money left over for gas? I thought you were interested in the faster better handling SUV, but I guess at the end of the day all you were interested in was a Porsche?

Even a new Turbo Pepper is $15k over MSRP of a faster X5 M.

another little trick that you might try is to reset the Throttle Adaptation:
- turn key to position 2 without cranking / starting the engine
- wait 10 seconds
- turn key to position 0
- wait 10 seconds

I usually dont buy new cars. I was thinking in the future , if i buy something nice and faster it would be a clean used Cayenne TT for 40-50k. Even though its for my wife , the 20% of the time i drive will be fantastic in something like a pepper or even a 4.8is.

Yes the X5 M is very appealing , but heard some not so good reviews about the X5 M on some other forums esp 6speedonline, maybe its the Porsche bias there. Either way i am not spending 100k for a SUV.

One complaint i have about the pepper tt is they have turbo lag and not that responsive in low rpms ...once the boost comes on its a different animal.

Also lets be honest here M cars in any form are no match to Porsche's top of the line 911. example e92 M3 vs Carrera S or even a Cayman s ( one of the best handling cars out there), That's in the cars dept, I havent driven the new X5 m so will reserve judgement in the SUV dept comparing to pepper turbo.
