4.6is owners, interesting engine find. (intake manifold related)

Maybe I am waaaay late to the party on this, but I found something that was interesting to me on RealOEM.

We all know that the non-vanos intake manifold makes more power, and some E53 people have retrofitted this part to their SAV's. Same thing that Dinan offered, less the badging and markup.

What I did not know is that the 4.6 engine uses that same part number as the old cars that we know to have the non-vanos free-er flowing manifold.

Am I missing something, or are we good-to-go? Sure seems that way.

Old news over in the 540/740 Bimmerforums.com - The Ultimate BMW Forum site, but still good info to stop people from blowing their money on $$Dinan$$ rebadged stock parts. I've seen these manifolds on ebay as little as $50 shipped. Any M62 non-VANOS motor (3.5, 4.0, 4.4) can be used and bolted right on. Might as well do the valve cover, valley pan and manifold gaskets while you're in there, along w/ the PCV thing on the backside of the intake.

Let me see if I can word this better....

I was going to buy an old non-Vanos manifold to slap on the SAV for a little bit more power, but it seems as though the 4.6 already came equipped.

Ok, your last sentence was a little unclear. Well lucky you, I still need to do the swap and get software afterwards. Just another thing on my list
