took my kid to school this morning and heard the sound when turning corner. i thought that it might be steering fluid shortage. got home-open the hood-looking for steering reservor, don't know where it locates. could someone direct me to the location ? and is it ok to generic steering fluid for now ? thx in advance. |

The power steering system on the X5s use regular ATF/transmission fluid, so that makes that part easy. And the fluid resevoir should be on the drivers side adn kinda low in the engine bay. Do you have the 3.0i or a V8?

becareful, some x5's were retrofitted with CHF-11s, check the cap for the correct fluid type, DexIII or CHF-11s
