Fixing Thermostat.
Hello people. I am currently in the process of installing a new thermostat on the X5. Now my issue is that when working on these type of cars, my confidence in attempting to fix it myself deminishes. I'm always hearing, you need a "special tool" to fix it. I have worked on numerous import with no problem but when it comes to these type of vehicles, now issues come.
What else is there to do besides, draining the radiation, removing parts to get to the thermostat housing, removing the housing and replacing the thermostat. Is there anything major I will need to do besides what I said above? Thanks for any response. |

I don't think you will need to do more besides verifying that the parts to be put back on are healthy.
BMW are good basic machines. the high cost is b/c they are built well.... |

So basically these mechanics I'm going to and giving me the answers of, you'll need special tools to fix it are basically excuses because they dont know how to fix it or they just dont want to try.

well, in certain cases, special tools can save you a lot of work. if the item you are addressing is that complicated then I would let them do it. what special tool do they say need to use to replace the thermostat?
but I would make sure you have a good indie by asking the other NY members who they use. |
