Totally agree, this is the stupidest feature of any vehicle I've ever owned. My 4Runner and Yukon have plain old intermittant wipers that work great. Why did BMW have to mess with a feature that is already proven to work?

The "rain sensor" never works right for me. It's always too fast and never at regular intervals.

never had a problem with it on my E53 - did the job for me. E70 implementation is better.

I really like rain-sensing wipers and will order this option on any future vehicle.

However, it can be disabled at the dealer. You will then have variable (4 levels) intermittent wipers instead.

Rain sensor wipers work well for me. I use it exclusively over the fixed settings.

I just called my two local BMW dealers and both said it cannot be disabled. AzNMpower32 could you give me more details on how to disable it so I can explain to the dealer? thx...

Awesome, I didn't know it could be changed from rain sense to regular interval mode. I have an indy mechanic that has been highly recommended to me and he has a laptop with all the BMW software so if it's possible, I'm sure he can do it. Supposedly the seat belt chime can be disabled as well, so I'm hoping to kill two birds with one visit to the mechanic....er, or something like that.

It's one of the Key/Vehicle memory settings like DRL and such.

I read this list of key specific options and it says this option can be turned off only on E46 models. I'm hoping this is wrong then??
