My 3.0 is at about 63k now, and it has been running great for the last year or so. I am not sure if I will be doing the spark plugs or not... the car is running fine and with previous cases (other cars/motorcycles), where I have replaced the spark plugs at exact 'manufacturer recommended' intervals, I have been surprised to see that the old spark plugs were almost in perfect condition and didn't need changing at all (even in my vtwin liter bikes which had 500 cc/cylinder and high compression rate). I have usually ended up changing the spark plugs anyway (since I had done all of the work to get to them already), but I think generally spark plug change intervals that manufacturers recommend are VERY conservative to begin with.

Does anyone have any specific experience with X5's spark plugs, whether they wear out prematurely or if they are usually ok and well within their 'good' performing life at around 60k?

Also, the water pump is working perfectly (no noise, no looseness in fan blades, no coolant loss, etc.)... I know a lot of people recommend changing it at around 60k miles, but some indie's here suggest to change it only after warning signs start to show up. Any thoughts on that?

I waited for 100k to replace my plugs and didn't notice any difference between the old and the new in terms of performance of mileage.

ever bleed brake fluid in the past 2 years?

replaced coolant in the past 4 years?

power steering fluid ever?(many people here use turkey baster to siphon whatever amount of fluid they can in the reservoir and refill with new fluid. dexron IV or any fully synthetic atf)

check belts for crack. maybe they're due.

I personally wouldn't worry about spark plugs and water pump at 60K. check if you have any oil leaking. at 60K, power steering pressure line is probably due. valve cover gasket failure is common too. as for water pump, just check if there is any play. if not, wait until about 80K.
