Updating the NAV screen?

Is there a way to change the color of the screen on the nav? My wife's audi switches to a darker screen when you turn the lights on and I'm hoping that BMW does the same. It is nice to have a darker screen at night - not too bright while the rest of the cabin is dark.

Thanks for any help!

Not on the x5. You can dim the screen but only by dimming the dashboard gauges/lights/switches. You can mod the nav system through the firmware, but that's a whole other kettle o' fish and I would'nt recommend it.

There is a brightness setting besides the the interior light switch. I forgot the sequence on the MKIII and IV. Look in the navigation section.....Phil

There is now new firmware that you can install that has DAY/NIGHT mode, which you will see in the Navigation section of X5 world,

I have it installed on my MKIII and it works like a treat, although you have to manually change the setting.

EDIT: mod was easy to install and still looks like it was done at the factory.
