Yes...we both have good taste!
I just dont understand why people who have it perfect, want to make it worse, just for the sake of being different!Personally ,I like mods to be near oem as possible and if not at least they should be "oem/original looking",if you know what I mean
I obviously respect those who mod their cars ,anyway they want, since we all have different tastes,of course.

Did you modify the Spec Dock so that the iPod sits lower? It doesn't appear to be as high as other pics I have seen and seems to be recessed or sunk into the ashtray more. If so, how did you do it? I like that since it still make the buttons accessible and also makes the iPod more stable.

Thanks for the kind words everyone...

The iPod/Spec Dock is just the way it comes, we did not do anything to make it sit lower. I wonder if there are different batches or generations of the Spec Dock for the X5. The person who makes the docks is a friend and my main stereo guy too, so I can ask him.

Thanks for the heads up on the A/C buttons...I did know that and might replace just the buttons. I think I may end up needing a new A/C control unit anyways since mine has a vibration sound coming from it when the car is off...it did this even before I messed with it...anyone else have this problem?

ARTRIGA,

Sorry just noticed your question about the navigation. When I first got the X5 the DVD Nav disc drive was not operating properly. CPO warranty would not cover the problem, so luckily the guy I bought the car from had a 2006 X5 on his lot with Nav, so he helped me out, we swapped the DVD units and I ended up with a 2006 DVD Nav drive...to my suprise, each time you start the car, the "accept" screen shows for about 2 seconds, then bypasses and goes to the map...not sure why but its awesome. I guess someone hacked the DVD drive I ended up with?

What did you do to achieve this accept bypass? .. assuming you still have nav in feet and not yards by switching to euro.

I absolutely love your iPhone ashtray mod.
Any insight on how you did this?

Thanks all.

To answer questions...

Not sure how I feel about the roof rail delete either...after looking at it for a while I think it looks a bit naked up there, too clean...I think what I really want to do is carry on the gloss Jet Black theme...do the roof, roof rack, and rear top spoiler black. Also will be interesting to see the OEM running boards on there too, I think they really help the car look higher quality and add something.

The iPod dock is basically a Spec Dock with DICE. You can order these from BMW Audio, BMW iPod, Speakers, Subwoofers, & more | BSW: Bavarian Soundwerks and spec.dock - complete iPod and iPhone vehicle integration

Here's a couple detail shots of the iPod dock, with ashtray lid open and closed. I made a little brushed/polished aluminum push trim for the lid. Also here is a photo with the roof rails on and regular roundel center caps.

The pedals are from ULTIMATE PEDALS and the entire set with heal guard was around $225 if I remember correctly.

This is the most recent pic of the interior. I am a mod freak lol and never afraid to try something custom...most mods are easily reversible...however it got me into trouble though when I tried something with the A/C control unit. I thought it would be cool to do a silver trim around the temp readout, etc...it did not come out well at first try, a mistake happened when removing the silver paint and very long story short I ended up screwing it up and had to repaint the whole entire A/C controls button logos and everything lol. Needless to say a crazy project I did not want to get into, but luckily I saved it from being ruined and this is what it looks like.

I ended up doing a satin gunmetal metallic on the shifter trim, A/C controls trim, and navigation screen trim.
