Hi Atlanta X5

First, a beautiful 4.8is! I love it. Very clean and very well done. My hats off to you

I used to be fairly active on the M5 boards, so I know the boards well, so its great to see another E39 owner here

Lastly, as far as your A/C buttons go, did you know that BMW has a climate control button 'kit' available that allows you to purchase all the buttons and not the entire climate control unit? I don't know if you are looking to replace those buttons but it's an option.

Chris

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Good mention Chris F. The whole faceplate for the ac control panel is available seperately from the actual control panel.

Congrats, very very nice looking 4.8is you got there. You gotta love Imola Red, I do.
I too love those nice subtle mods to the front grills, foglights and sw. knobs. Good to see you're going to do the bonnet top grills as well.
I also don't like it without the roof rails, look forward to seeing them reinstalled in gloss black.

Surprised the 4.8is didn't come stock with side steps, hmmmm.

You're very good at taking quality pics as well.

Happy and safe driving to you

Very nice! I really would never get a car in any other paint than black...

But the 4.8's look so damn good with the black/red imola color contrast.

In my opinion ,it does look better with the roof rails and the BMW wheel caps.
I must say that your black grill with the silver trim looks way better than in titanium.
I think I will try the silver trim on my black grill

very very nice X

I also noticed that you put an ///M badge above the ash tray, I did the same thing, because without the badge it looks like there is something missing.

Did you modify the Spec Dock so that the iPod sits lower? It doesn't appear to be as high as other pics I have seen and seems to be recessed or sunk into the ashtray more. If so, how did you do it? I like that since it still make the buttons accessible and also makes the iPod more stable.

Thanks for the kind words everyone...

The iPod/Spec Dock is just the way it comes, we did not do anything to make it sit lower. I wonder if there are different batches or generations of the Spec Dock for the X5. The person who makes the docks is a friend and my main stereo guy too, so I can ask him.

Thanks for the heads up on the A/C buttons...I did know that and might replace just the buttons. I think I may end up needing a new A/C control unit anyways since mine has a vibration sound coming from it when the car is off...it did this even before I messed with it...anyone else have this problem?
