Believe it or not...no track time yet! I've had my R6 and R1 there, but not the Tiller. Got any pics of your Duc?

Levers now being replaced..hoping thats it...but they are not very confident about that because my levers were not the ones listed in the tsb. When its back and running well I'll post up. Might be OK this week....but we don't think its cold enough this week to know for sure.

Cool, you got them to do the levers. Fingers crossed. Last time I was in the Illinois cold was when I was at Great Lakes...didn't see sunlight through the clouds and snow till the last day of bootcamp!

Nice Duc bro...I like the red faced gauges. I still remember the 1st time I saw one of those in person. I've been looking into getting te euro hitch installed on the X so I can get my bike to the track, otherwise it's been nothing but canyon carving.

Thought I'd give the resolution;

This was the third time in for the problem and they wanted to make sure they nailed it so they pretty much rebuilt both heads under warranty, $6K billed to BMW. Intake levers, intake rockers, o-rings, pushrods, eccentric shafts, injectors, plugs (again), coils and other items, but you get the gist.

They really went through motor, compression checks and numerous other items to rule out other problems.

Once again, thank goodness for the CPO warranty. Now the only problem is I had so much fun with the 2010 328i x drive ...I want one. Handled very well in our ice storm a few weeks back.

Thanks for the help!

Glad it worked out that you we're able to get them to replace the levers. Question is, did it solve your problem?

Not sure.... been too "warm" lately. I find myself in the crazy position of wanting sub 10 degree temps to check it out.

I'm kind of curious as well. Mine is in for the same problem and they are replacing a ton of parts. I mentiond the recall and they said mine wasn't included. But they are doing the shafts and levers now...

My 04 x5 4.4 has been showing this signs for 4 years. It had to be a cold morning to repeat and it happened about 40% of the time I started it. They replaced the spark plugs at 60k the 1st time. The following year I took it back for the same issue and they replaced the levers. The problem repeated the 1st day I had it home. The following year I took it in again and they replaced the levers, again. Same issue. That was 2 years ago. All this work was done under CPO. Some history: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...cylinders.html

I decided to just live with it. It only happened when cold, and if miss-fires caused the Cat Converters to fail from unburned fuel entering them, then BMW would pay for it under the emissions warranty.

Well, I took the car in this year and decided to mention the issue again, because it was now out of CPO, but still under the 2 year parts and labor warranty from the last time they attempted to fixed it.

I told the tech not to bother replacing the levers again, or to replace the spark plugs as these did not help before. He told me that they adjusted the min. levers lift from 3mm to .8mm. They claim they reproduced the error each morning before the adjustment, but not after. We'll see, I picked it up today, and its going to be -2 tomorrow morning here in Boston. Even if it repeats, I have decided to live with it for the 2-3 more years I will have the car.

Of course, now my heated seats are burning holes in my jacket, but thats another thread!

I've been told the computer will shut down fuel delivery to any cylinder which it determines has a misfire to provent unburnt fuel from reaching the catalytic converters.

As an FYI I had a SEL indicating engine misfires in my 2001 4.4i and it turned out to be the oil separator hoses.
