Moonroof / panoroof experts anyone? Weird behavior

Hello
First of all, happy new year to everyone, best wishes and successful repairs!
So about repairs...
If there is a feature i love(d) on my X, it's the properly functional (without the small window tilt) panorama roof. Such a pleasure to wind up the hair in summer.
That was until one day it suddenly stopped working properly..

The visor goes back completely, but when comes glass turn to slide back, it lowers, slide about a millimeter, and closes back
Tilt opening works fine.

A video of the issue :
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/QOQZKzGSe1Y

What i tried in vain:
- Do the usual reset procedure by keeping the roof button pressed. Already did it before for a full relearn cycle. This time it stopped at the glass sliding step. Now that the reset failed, i get sunroof normalization codes A092 A0A2 and the visor closes inch by inch (not all the way when pressing the button forward)
- Remove the battery for a day to give it a charge (unrelated) so all systems have reseted
- Partially dismount the "ceiling" to check if nothing blocks the rails. Nothing blocks the rails...
- Pushing the glass to help it slide back (gently, don't want to worsen the thing..)
- Using ISTA+ ECU calls to trigger the roof operations. Visor responds well, glass does the same problem.

What i will try next:

If someone have an idea it would be appreciated, i really miss this feature.

Is there any sensor in the system that could be faulty?

There is probably debris in there, the motor senses the resistance and stops.

My suggestions:

- just don't mess with it. If the glass is attached and not leaking, you can drive the car. I was in this situation a year ago to the day, kept messing with it, and ended up with a convertible x5 in the dead of winter. If you put your hand up in the middle it deflects a lot of the wind. Wear good gloves and switch hands. Above 50mph was not possible with all the wind.

- since your tilt works, tilt it open and try to spray compressed air in there. You could also use a little bit of a spray grease of sorts at this point.

- you could then (at your own risk) use the allen key tool in the tool kit to try and manually crank it back. You might want to do a visual inspection of both sides first and make sure nothing is obviously out of place. There are so many small cheap parts that can be broken, and if you crank it, more will break, and then it won't close. Then try to get it to close, and it all snaps apart and the glass is halfway off the car. So if you feel any resistance or hear any bad noises (apart from the drain channel noises that are normal) stop, do not continue to try and crank as I did. If you can get it to open, properly clean and grease.

- tilt up and remove the front and rear glass panels, fully clean and grease. This is somewhat of a smarter option. If you don't have any idea how bad it is (i.e. just got the car), this would definately be smarter.

The R/R isn't as bad as you'd think, the hardest part for me was reinstalling the headliner, there are 3 clips on the rear that you have to get to slide over at the same time. This was near impossible and almost reqires a second hand. Once you get the casette out it's just a screwdriver to change the parts out. There is a good video. Getting the casette up and down isn't bad, raise the seats/headrests, and a jackstand on a box works nicely to support the rear.

Ah yes i tried the allen key for emergency close/open, and it really won't move by turning it in any direction. Maybe it require more force to be applied but as you mentioned i would like to avoid making it worse..
So that behavior is happening because the motor (in which the "jam" sensor is located) is detecting a resistance?

If it won't crank it's either really dirty or something is broken. It was surprising how much debris was up in mine, pretty much an entire tree was back in there. It cranked though, until it got uneven and stuck open.

You should not try to crank it very hard through the resistance, you'll regret it. Just try to clean/lube it in tilt mode a bit first, or consider removing the glass for a better inspection/cleaning.

You likely are going to have to get it repaired / do the repair when you have time. There are so many cheap little parts that can break. Probably one of those metal arms is out of it's place, or one of htose plastic locks w/ the metal springs is stuck and not locking/unlocking.
