BMW doesn't fell like MID is safety related item like the instrument cluster(IC).
I haven't heard anyone getting MID fixed out of waranty but many on IC.

I have been rolling with the busted pixels for 5 months now. Looks awful, sometimes I can't even tell time. Got quoted $1k for the replacement from the dealer. Figured that would fund the new tires, oil change, and fluid flushes I have been holding off on. During trade-in offers the dealers haven't cared too much about it. I guess I will leave it as is and try to ignore it.

I've been corresponding with German Audio Tech from eBay for a couple hours now. He's been excellent at responding and answering questions. I think I'm going to mail it out to him. Under $200 and he guarantees for one year.

Interesting, let me or us know how it works out. For 200 and one year, maybe I can increase my private resale by 400 or so, if I decide to sell.

He finished and the unit is on its way back already. I should have it early next week. Here is a link with some before and after shots. Mine is on the bottom.

I did have a happy ending with the IC. BMW paid for the the instrument cluster and I paid for labor, for me only $101.50.

Now to the MID problem. Who is the guy on Ebay???

He's out in Long Beach CA. eBay I guess is any easy way to advertise. I emailed him first to get a sense of who he was. Very good at responding and answering questions. I live in Southern California and got my radio back pretty quick (Thursday to Monday). I had a good experience, good luck.
