Headlights on when unlocking?

Might be a stupid question, but I've searched and found nothing.

On my SLK350 I have a very cool (but I would have thought very common) feature where if I unlock / lock the car when it's dim enough for the auto lights to be on, the headlights and fogs come on.

It's VERY useful when I've forgotten where I've parked in a supermarket car park!

Is it possible to set up the X5 so that it turns the lights on when you lock / unlock the car?

i believe those are drive way convince lights? i am not sure if thats what you call it but its suppose to be for when you unlock or lock the car so you can walk to your door way with lights on. Should last for about 30seconds or a min forgot but its programmable through the dealership. i think when u order a new vehicle its a option that costs $30.. not 100% sure but i think thats what your talking about.

What relays and how would I go about doing this mod? Thanks in advance.

welcome lighting is only available since 2006MY SOP vehicles. to retrofit this into older vehicles such as the X5, you can send power to the lamp module and rain sensor modules with a remote call device. this will trigger the rain sensor to power on, so the Lamp module can recieve the k-bus telegram that it is dark enough to illuminate the lamps,

if you flick the full beams on as you get out the car with the keys out of the ignition then they will stay on for a while as you walk indoors! must be a way of wiring it up to the key!

if you don't know or understand relays, you can buy the kit EAS has, its to the angels called remote trigger or something like that

eas - 714.369.8524 | eas - CCFL/LED Angel Eye Wiring Harness with Remote Feature

you can make your own for 3 bucks. I will have to draw out the relay triggers though. basically when you unlock the doors, your dome lights come on, and it triggers the relay to send power to your lights.
