I dont know... more power?! Get 4.8iS then. But again why do you need that much power for!? I mean I thought 4.4i has enough power, as these guys are saying it sounds funny but to some extent they are right... heavy duty supercharger makes the car even heavier and you know how X5s are damn heavy even just opening a door alot of people complain, they think I hide stuff in my doors! So putting extra power might need you shed alot of weight... ha you included! kidding but serious think about it... oh! again put extra $$$ for gas!.. Mine it takes 19.4liters/100km I dont know about 4.8!

That's a funny question. More Power is always better. And if it's more power that you are after, you usually are not worried about fuel cost.

I stopped calculating gas mileage in my 740iL after I modified the engine...and there is no such thing as too much power!!

12 replies and poppy hasn't even come back. Anyways, if you ever read this again Poppy, give me a budget and I'll tell you where to spend the money. Granted, the S/C is the best bang for the buck at around $6-8k, but there are some other mods out there that will net 5, 10, 15, etc HP w/o the need to spend thousands...staying away from $$Dinan$$ branded parts is one of them.

I read a post on BMW X5 • Index page . the owner claims to have a computer to remap the car to produce 523 bhp .
no forced induction as far as I remember.
car can easily crab sideways with a blip of throttle .

LMAO...yeah, I'm gonna call BS on that one. I'm a member of that forum as well, but never really use it.

Amacman, if you've got a direct link to his thread instead of to the index page, I'd love to see it. I've tried searching using "523, 523bhp, 523 horsepower", etc but abosolutely no luck.

523 BHP!? My foot! Thats really Bull!

Chilling WallyX5 more power means more money unless as M5James said you stop calculating gas you are blowing then Its fine!... but I looked at 4.4iS there is little advantage of 4.6iS (say) over 4.4iS thats why I said this dude should consider 4.8 then! If the guy is coming from 3.0 or 3.5D its quiet understandable but I wouldnt sell my 4.6 in order to buy a 4.8 in the name of more power... c'mon! my buddies might think I have lost my mabbles!

A blower and intercooler setup is probably less than 100 pounds. Power to weight is fantastic with forced induction. The whole rig weighs less than the spare, more than likely, as long as the bracket isn't huge and we are talking about a CSC.

As for 523 horse out of a 4.4, I don't think the stock injectors and pump will support that. That guy has to be on meth, but if he isn't let's see the proof. And I do mean a dyno sheet.

To the OP, a turbo or supercharger will double or better your power, but you will need supporting mods like fuel pump (larger) injectors (larger) and a tune. I'd be worried about doubling the power to a factory BMW X5 automatic transmission though.

BMW X5 • View topic - Special Offer for Coding/Programming/Remapping etc
this is the thread .
Jason B&W is the poster with links to his company website .

DONEONE69 may be known as AlGeezy on the X5 drivers forum , they have new moderators , one of them does tend to hound people a bit overzealously , trying to make everyone overly charming and so on .
hopefully the mod will calm down with his new found powers .
it would of course be nice if every reply was a full technical write up on the subject but we are not robots and issues with similar symptoms can have different causes .
