Question Panoramic Sunroofs...

I hear these things are a PITA when they breakdown - is this common or a small percentage?

Also - does the glass only tilt or can it open up completely? There is a visor on them isnt there to keep the sun out?

Or is just the ordinary sunroof better?

It tilts and opens. It doesn't completely open but opens a section at a time. The rear section opens maybe halfway.

I've had the pano roof on an E53 and an E70. I never had a problem with it. I wish my X6 had it. I love how bright it made the cockpit.

You can close the headliner panel but I think that defeats the purpose. I left mine open all the time and the roof itself is open unless it's raining or snowing.

They are somewhat fickle, yes. Forget driving with it completely open unless you enjoy massive wind buffeting at 30 mph+. When they start to make noise then the only way to drown it out is by keeping the headliner closed. I also find that the car is much quieter overall with the headliner closed, which is especially nice when listen to good music.

One of my favorite features on the vehicle. I drive with the headliner open all the time, I love the extra light. Rarely do I have the sunroof open though.

Same here but mine has been replaced before.
