Rear driver side door won't open

The rear driver side door won't open from the inside. The door locks and unlocks fine when I press the key fob. It also unlocks the door fine on the second pull. But right on the second pull the door doesn't open. I have to get out and open the door from the outside.

Is this an easy fix? I'm hoping to save myself from a trip to the stealer.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
If not the child safety lock it may be a bowden cable to the inner handle. Does the handle pull feel normal?

I haven't had the need to remove the door panel on the X5, (but have on my other bimmer to replace a lock actuator) It doesn't sound serious, if the lock and latch is still working. Probably the linkage or the pull handle. You will have to take the panel off to tell.

Yes, it's possible, as I did it myself. You just remove the panel from inside the car. It's a little tricky to maneuver it off, but it's possible. Then you just reach in the door and pull the unlock tab to open the door and finish your work. Most likely the inside lock won't work due to the child safety lock and the outside lock is a stretched or broken cable unless you're in the north and it froze. I'm assuming that the lock button pops up when you unlock the car?

mine wont open from the inside or outside...
same door...

Any idea? The door locks unlocks fine... the outside door handle does not feel like it is pulling anything, it feels kinda like the door handle when the door is locked...
