'04 X5 3.0 KBB & Edmunds

I am getting ready to sell my '04 X5 3.0 and have looked to KBB.com and Edmunds.com and there is quite a difference.

I have selected all the options my 3.0 has to offer plus it's in "outstanding" condition as it has no deferred maintenance, accident free and will be detailed prior to putting it on the market. I'm the original owner and always had it serviced/maintained at Rasmussen in Portland right down to the tires. Which are within 6 months old. I even have a journal of all miles driven since I took delivery with 17 miles on the odometer February 14, 2004. Am I ill or what!

It currently has 111k and every option except Navigation.

So...Edmunds.com suggests $20,338 and KBB.com suggests $15,565. I know the car will sell for what someone is willing to pay for it but I wanted to get everyone's valuable input.

So lay it on me folks

David

Unfortunately i'd say closer to the KBB number. But hey you could always start higher and come down. Depends on how much time you have to sell.

i find cars.com pretty accurate. they say about $18,995.

unfortunately, you have over 100K on it and prices drop dramatically at that point.

if you have any trouble contact me, I will buy it.

How do you like that rear loading floor? ours doesn't have it.
what type of 19" tires did u put on it? the Michelins??

I use Edmunds mostly as the best barometer. A couple of points though

1) 5% of used cars are really outstanding. Got a dent(s)? Scraped bumpers? dings? Repaints?
2) The used car market drops off a cliff after 100K miles. Very few buyers are willing to take a car with this mileage. Those who hunt here are bargain hunters so be prepared for a lot of back and forth
3) 1 owner vehicle is a huge positive especially with good service records
4) Used car 'values' sometimes don't include the options, really depends on the buyer and whether they value the option (i.e. NAV vs Xenons)

I would ask for 18k and settle for 17k or mark it at 19.9k and wait for the 'right buyer'

Thanks for all the feedback I really appreciate it all. My X5 has no dents, scrapes of any kind and has never needed a repaint. I had a complete detail twice a year to keep it as fresh and new as possible. I know my mileage is the biggest issue but I do have all records, really all of them, to prove the care that has been given. Fluid changes always occurred well before their recommended intervals.

So I plan to list it in two weeks after I have it's final detail completed and will start at $18500 and see where that takes me.

I do have the luxury of waiting for the right buyer but it's going to kill me having one of my cars sitting outdoors during this time.

Again, to all that responded, thank you for your valuable input!
