I am a member of the E46 board and there is a lot of talk about a HU by Dynavin. In fact there have been several installed locally (NY area) in E46's and thusfar, with the exception of some firmware issues that have been addressed in Rev 1, they seem to be performing as expected. Now I do not mean to say that this is an exact fit over to an X5, but it does sound encouraging that there is a manufacturer who believes there is a market out there for a OEM-look unit with all the bells and whistles available in aftermarket not limited to Navi, Bluetooth, DVD video, sat radio, USB ports and (coming soon) internet access via an inline 3G modem.
