Agreed. The title would have something on it to the effect it was a dealer/manufacture buy back. Salvaged title means something happened to the vehicle and the cost of repair exceeded the value of the vehicle. I hardly think the cost to replace faulty door actuators would exceed the value of the vehicle or result in a lemon law buy back, thus the questionable "salvaged" title.

if u gonna sell it down the road u gonna have rough time selling it.
but i would go check it my self rather thn sending a friend to look at it. and look at the pictures before. if its anywhere near the engine thn i would walk away from it. its costly for v8 when it comes to repair. and pictures arent the same when u see something with ur own eyes. i have seen badly roll over cars/trucks and they have clear title. it all depends on the state ur at and the insurance company. btw if u have a salvage title any BMW dealer wont touch it if u had a problem with the X and no one can fix it but thm.

Since you put it that way, maybe with how much they charge for parts and labor, they WOULD total the X!

IF you go through with the deal... you're nuts! I wouldn't touch that car with a 10ft pole, even if they offered me $5k less... you'll end up putting more than that in for repairs!!!

Thanks

Thanks all, I contacted a person in Chicago that is selling a 50K mile 4.8 2006 for $26K. That seems to be about the right price.

One thing about the car in Cali, when i asked, he was up front about it and sent photos, it does look like it was drivers front end and to me, hard. When he offered to sell it for $23K without asking for the discount, I should have known that it was a bit to good of a deal.

Thanks again for all the help!

If anyone is aware of issues 06 IS's had, let me know.

Mike
