The vehicle could have been on a minor accident. In some states the owners have the right to reject the vehicle after it has been fixed, so the insurance company turns the vehicle into a totaled loss, and depends on the extend of the damage is either rebuild restore or salvage. This particular x5 was for sure not involved in a serious accident, however, because it is a salvage title, it looses about 40-50% of the value for retail purposes. Add to that the fact that some insurances companies wont insured it, and you got yourself a head ache. DONT BUY IT!!!!!

WALK AWAY !!!! Save you cash and keep looking, you will find the right car in time. Cash can sometimes burn holes in my pockets but i can tell you now that you dont want to buy this one,. I had a similar thing when I was looking for mine...pictures before the repair and a really good repair job, but i decided to walk away. However i did keep an eye on the trader selling the car and it took him months to sell it after dropping the pice by 20 %. Just think when you want to sell it !!! you will struggle your ass off and loose loads of cash.

I would definitely NOT pass the puppy up. Some scratch remover, a little rubbing compound and a few coats of wax and you won't be able to distinguish it from one off the showroom floor. Trust me.

Sorry for the late reply. Had to wipe off all the slobber from the keyboard.
