Seatbelt Senors?

Today, I started the car and buckled my seatbelt. There was no one in the passenger seat however the fasten seatbelt light lit up and would not go away. I ignored it and began to drive. Almost immediately the beeping and "FASTEN SEAT BELTS" message came on. It would not go away. I turned off the engine and turn it back on. Nothing changed. I ended up just buckling the seatbelt without anyone in the passenger seat.
What do I do? Thanks so much

the passenger seat mat sensor has failed. if you have a warranty, you should probably use it, instead of the forums.

No known way to fix it, need sensor replacement.
It works like an electronic scales sensing the passenger weight.
No need to change the whole seat, but it takes a lot of work to get the mat replaced in your seat as you need to draw the leather off your seat to reach it.
It sits between the foam pad and the leather.

BTW, pay attention as the same sensor drives the passenger airbag activation too, not only the seat belt warning.

the correct way to fix this would be to replace the OC3 mat sensor. the cheap way of fixing it would be to re-code the MRS and Cluster to disable the seat belt reminder chime. and another way would be to Disable the OC3 mat through coding, and disconnect the sensor mat. The dash air bag would then only deploy stage 2.

What about the seatbelt senoras? Kind of sexist to leave them out.

Microcracks have developed in the OC3 seat mat and it must be replaced. It is covered under warranty. Go to your dealer and have it done.

Microcracks would cause the Air bag warning lamp to come on, This is a situation in which the OC3 mat was manufactured too sensitive. Often causing no errors in OC3 mat.
