Did u clean the inside of all the coilpacks if needed? Oil will get in there. Have them all checked for full function. Ses light on? Could be 02 sensors. Check your intake pipes and your maf sensor.

Someone has been infected with Afrikaans.
Whats the story?(ek is Afrikaans).

I did clean the coils, there was oil in some of them. But is there some way I can test the coils perhaps? My GT1 hasn't reported anything about the o2 sensors and I've got a brand new maf already. I reran the diagnostics today and since clearing the adaptations the engine failsafe prog hasnt come back. I found that the high-pitched whinging noise when the car is in ignition 2 position(before starting the engine) is coming from the throttle. And whenever the engine goes into failsafe mode the high-pitched noise is gone. Mmmmm...

Is the throttle a servicable item? What should I look for or do when I have it off?

Well its been a while since my last post.
I took the advice that was given and cleaned the throttle. It did seem to be a bit "sticky" at times, and its smoother now on idle. It didn't take the misfire away though so I gave up the ghost and took it to a indy in Johannesburg called TuneTech. 2 days later and all problems were solved. It cost a few bucks but the service was fantastic. Turns out the new MAF I bought was giving incorrect readings forcing the ECU to give to much fuel. New MAF, and she's purring like a kitten.
There is still one mystery, the diagnosis keeps telling me the Steering Angle Sensor is faulty as well as the Brake Pressure Sensor, yet there are no lights on when starting or driving to indicate there is a problem with the DSC. Only thing I've noticed is that pushing the DSC button has no effect either....

Help

Sorry for bringing up a old thread. I just purchased a used 2001 x5 4.4l, and mine is also missing an oil return hose. I purchased the hose, connected it underneath the intake manifold (you pictured it on your post) and I do not know where it goes. Any help?
