Niiiice!
I'm having a hard time deciding wether I want to go straight pipe instead of the rear silencers, or do what you did there. The sound of a straight piped turbodiesel isn't as loud as one would think either, as the turbo kills a lot of noise. I had straight pipe exhaust on my E34 525tds (no cat, no mufflers), and it wasn't annoyingly loud. Even the neighbors told me it was ok. Inside, there was hardly any exhaust noise at all. I might try doing what you did first. And if I feel like it's too silent, I'll go straight piped.
