I bought some from Schmiedmann in Denmark and paid shipping to the US and came out way ahead. They had some great pricing on shocks & struts and only cost me $60 shipping. Try finding shocks with airbags and sport suspension for a reasonable price.

Shocks are on, big improvement but now I can feel the fronts will be up for replacement next year as well.
Also had to pop-in a new CV joint on the fr. pssgr side......on doing that I could tell the brake pads were ready for a swap and it needed new tires all around. Just got it all done but it feels like a maintenance marathon! Gr8full that I have my own tire changer/balancer, probably saved me a couple of hours hanging around a tire peddler. Also next year will need to swap fluid in the diffs/TC and transmission. Not to mention changing out the cracked windshield.....aaaargh, when will I wake up? Ok, thx for listening, that was my rant. |

can someone help me out? i have a 2001 bmw x5 4.4l with rear air suspension. rear air suspension means w/o sport suspension correct? i am in need of new shocks. i've checked out bavauto, ecs, getbmwparts, pelican, etc. does anyone know the specific part numbers that i need for the rear shocks? ecs mentions a rear air spring. does that replace the shock? the front is pretty standard, but i'm very confused for the rear and what exactly i need for my x5. someone please help! thanks!

I ordered my shocks from Schmiedmann out of Europe and ended up saving money when compared to US suppliers. I found it difficult to find US suppliers who had the air suspension shocks. Apparently the valving is different than shocks without air suspension. The standard non-sport BMW part number for rear shocks with air self-leveling is 33526755839. Here's the Schmiedmann link: Schmiedmann - Shock absorbers/springs and accessories for BMW X5 (E53) - New parts |
