4.8 Bug deflector

Afternoon All,

Do any of my fellow 4.8 ers have an acrylic bug shield? I have had every story from they never made it for that year to the factory stopped making them!

I am not wild about them, but with past experience, X5's have a tendency to get small stone chips on the leading edge of the hood. I don't want that!

Thanks.

I'm not sure it's still available. I ordered one from a dealer and checked 3 times. When I received it, it did not fit and I had to return it. I think they supposedly changed the design or they only fit '00-'03. So according to my 3 dealers, BMW no longer shows a valid part number for a bug shield for the '04-'06 X5. But, your link shows there is one for our X. Maybe I'll have to check again.......

better off with the whole front clear vinyl from xpel....made by 3m. this setup will keep your front bumper and front part of hood and fenders covered so the paint will never chip. the good part is you can barely see it

This one is for a pre-facelift model.

Checked myself, yes it's readily available under the new part number.

What year is your X? I thought it was a facelifted E53. If it is, this deflector will NOT work. There is an application note in the ad which wasn't there when I bought mine from them. They added the disclaimer after I sent mine back. So please recheck.
