If you need a TCU, the replacement unit will have Bluetooth. There are no "Assist Only" replacements. Congrats!

I have had my red light come on while my car is on the driveway one out of 20 times and it will stay on. I would turn my car off and restart it and it would stay on. I'm getting it checked on Tuesday. I hope I get the new TCU.

OK, I never did take the vehicle in to get this checked. Today, I tried to call BMW Assist, and got the same "unavailable" message. I called them on the cell phone, and was told immediately that it was a hardware issue, and I needed to take it to the dealer for TCU replacement. I am due for service anyway, so I will get them to do this, too. I will make sure they give me the most up to date TCU, based on some of the posts on this board.

Is the TCU in the trunk? The tech won't have to do anything in the dash area, will he? I don't want to hear how my installation of the Valentine One/Stealth One, or gauge rings, or my mud flaps, or valve caps, or whatever, is the cause of my TCU failure.

I'm not the conspiracy theory expert, but how far are you from Eglin AFB? Maybe they are twiddling with the satellites....when that giant Frisch's Big Boy blocks the sight line...

Seriously--I have lost all nav and Sirius at different times for no reason.

I have only had to use BMW Assist one time, and it did not work. The incident was in my Z4, not the X5, and was not an electrical issue -- there was no service available where I was?! So... Unlike OnStar, and possibly others, I think BMW uses the cellular network to speak with you. I had to use my cell phone (which did work) to call BMW Roadside Assistance and speak with a person.
