help...problem with transmission??

NOt sure if anyone has experienced this with a new (8000 miles) 4.4 but the car jerks suddenly and violently when coming to a rolling stop (but not a complete stop) and quickly taking off again. This problem is occuring more and more often. Also, not sure if this is a transmission problem. THe car is barely 5 months old and has close to 8000 miles on it. Gonna schedule to bring the car in, but I wanted to get more info on this. I tried doing a serach but found nothing...any insight is appreciated, tks.
