Youre on the right track, it should go in exactly as the old one came out. I found that removing the plastic/rubber flaps that guide air from the grille into the radiator makes it a lot easier.

Reinstallation is the reverse of removal.

anyone tried bypassing the pusher fan from the sensor trigger and keep it running whenever engine is on?

also autolampsplus gave me insane deals on power steering reservoir ($10) and intake camshaft position sensor ($29)!

Where's the DIY on the site? I recently got my car back after doing some servicing. Seems the aux fan isn't working and if I can do this myself for $325 installed that'd be awesome.

Just an update and FYI, I was waiting for this to come back in stock, they now have them again. They directed me to EBAY where I purchased the fan for 265.00 plus 20.00 for shipping, now that is a DEAL!

Im hoping this solves my issue of the aux fan not coming on when I run the A/C.

Good info - mine just took a nose dive today so I'll be ordering one very soon. Any long term updates from the quality of the product? I haven't seen many replacements for less than $450, so $265 sounds great to me!

Wow the price has come down quite a bit. I have had the autolampsplus aux fan in my X5 for 1 year and 10,000 miles and it works awesome through our sweltering summer.
However, I would not buy the cam position sensor, the one I bought was junk and ended up buying OEM from Bavauto. This seems to be consistent with other findings- anything other than OEM is not the way to go for complicated sensors like this.

Hopefully that one is better quality, mine seems to have failed already. I am not sure if I want to use another ebay fan or have the system checked to ensure something else isnt wrong...
