Getting system installed any tips?

Getting my sub/amp installed on my 01 with dsp.

Im keeping the stock deck so they have to install a small little box that pulls a signal from the deck.

Any tips for the install from people who have done this upgrade is welcomed.

The only recommendation I have is to find a good installer who knows what he is doing specifically with BMWs. BMWs are finniky with their electronics and just remember that the moment you alter anything with stereo, your electronical part of the warranty becomes void. So if you get a wrong installer and he messes things up, it'll be a huge headache. Good luck.

Well I have a writeup on my install (including the DSP and LOC info) at
http://www.janixworld.com/x5/Stereo/ . As has mentioned before the number one thing to make sure is you're dealing with a shop who's already worked on DSP equipped cars and knows how to integrate an aftermarket amp into a DSP based system. With a DSP it is not possible to just extract a pre-amp signal as you can't really bypass the DSP amp.

Is this true for just adding a sub/mono amp?
I ordered a Monster Cable Factory Linx FX100 (MC.FX100)
to get a signal for my sub.
My installer said he could just pick a signal that comes from the deck using this item.
Does this sound all right or am i doing this wrong?

If you are just replacing the facotry installed subs (the ones on the right hand side in the trunk) your installer can pickup the sub signal from there. They just aggregate the output of the two factory subs into one and feed it into the aftermarket amp.
