Maybe it is just me, but what is a dusk driving light?
If you need lights turned on, you need headlights turned on. Anything less is not sufficient. In my area, it can get you a ticket, I am not sure where you are located. Daytime running lights can be programmed by the dealer, and are for up until dusk, since they don't turn the taillights on.

I suspect what he is wanting to do is to retrofit the option where the headlights come on automatically at dusk. Unfortunately it's more than just retrofitting a switch. To do this you would need to replace the windshield (that's where the sensor is located, as I understand it) and also retrofit the wiring harness and switches. In my opinion, given the complexity of this, I would just live without it (in fact I do
).

That turn lights on at dusk deal is an "accessory answer" in search of a question, imo. But, diff'n strokes. ;>)

There is a feature (not sure if it is an option to be purchased) that permits the Headlights to turn ON when it is dark (evening, dusk, tunnels, or whatever).
Separately, there is a feature called Daylight Running Light (DRL) that can be turned on by any dealer for free- that energizes the innermost (high beam) lights to operate at like 30% brightness. It does not affect the normal operation of the high beam control. |

yes the zenons automatically come on around dusk and dawn..especially when the sun is near the horizon. I guess they think the car is hard to see from others so they flip the lights on...If you notice in the morning all bmw's have their lights on..lots of zenon around 8am...i'm sure its the sensor.
