jacking up x5

Hi all, slightly embarrassed to ask, but i will, I need to jack up the x5 over weekend to paint callipers and add safety clips, never done so before and wondering if putting a normal garage jack Over the hole where the bmw jack is supposed to be inserted Into will be a problem?and then lifting this way(see pic jack.jpg please) It will be much easier if this is possible as I have the jack laying around and can just wheel it under and lift to do the job

Also checked post on site http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...points-x5.html
and want to know if I use a round jack pad over the square insert point under the car to the rear of wheels whether there will be a problem?
