go to a shop that knows BMW's so the can properly check the bushings properly. A regular tire shop that doesn't know BMW wont check properly and u could have premature tire wear after the new tires and alignment. like new tires worn after 3,000 miles. If the bushings are worn they cant get it in to spec and when u drive it will come out of spec.

Hi mywidebody02
thank you for info. I am wondering if I could see if the bushings are Ok myself. Actually I have no knocking no noise during driving. and the tires are up to change soon. just want to keep them for this summer, you know they are 19inch sportpack tires good for summer. so I have thought that everything is normal and my SA told that 19inch tire should do that. I mean the wear is normal. The driver side is worn down some more as shown in the pictures. but the SA said it is also normal. Could you please let me know if I could check it by myself?
thank you.

No tech here, but imo, that rear tire wear in your pics, is common, maybe "normal"
and, 95%+ of the Xs here would exhibit similar wear, esp. running staggered wheels
in the rear.

Taking it to a dlr, or even a good Indie, may lead to a parts replacement drill that
will not be kind to your wallet and, may not "fix" or alleviate the problem, esp. on
tires that have some miles on them.

I wouldn't call the toe a problem. It's what BMW has tuned the rear suspension to have naturally.

Can the tires be flipped on the wheel and rotated side to side? This would put the wear on the outside edge... Do it all the time with track tires but I don't know if Diamariseseses (Diamari?) are sensitive to flipping on the wheel.

It depends on the tire. Don't know for certain on the Diamaris.

the other side of the Diamaris is totally different. so I am guessing the flipping might not work.

Toe is a problem. Camber is what BMW has there rear suspension set with. With the camber that the x5 have if there is a toe problem it will cause the wear. The front of the tires point in and wear faster.

I checked min and thought they were ok. Tool it to the Indy and he explained that with the rear control arms they need slot of pressure applied to check if they are in tolerance for alignment.

hey all.

so here is my update.
first of all, I changed with bridgestone dueler Hp 255/50/19 107V and 285/45/19 111V
I do not feel any difference from diamaris. costco did really good job. again I am NOT an expert to tell any difference. but naively feel like similiar. both are not noisy. not so much difference in handling..

and I did alignment at BMW dealer at $250 it took 2 and half hours including oil change. What they found is rear camber was -2.4 for both and adjust to -1.5 for both and they found that some small error offsets from other factors, say toe etc.. but the SA said they could take care of all of them without any problem. so mine is good to go and they found no problem. I forgot the name,, what bushing?? the cylinderical one. no problem. so conclusively looks like just the bald is from the negative camber. hope -1.5 gives better result later. I do not know if -1.5 is factory default or revised one. what is the unit for -1.5 or 2.4? it looks pretty different. -1.5 does not looks aggressive at all. but I like it.

hope this info helps
