Second CV Boot To Go Bad This Year
As I was adjusting "cold" tire pressures in the nice, 90 deg F temps at 6am this morning, I noticed that the passenger side outer CV boot had tossed it's grease all over. The driver's side boot had gone earlier this year. My X5 has nearly 59k miles now (about 12k under my ownership). Thank goodness it is covered under CPO.

Also a good thing I found it as I leave for DC Wednesday morning!

There is one boot at each end of each of the four driveshafts (half-shafts).

Replaced under CPO yesterday.

Did they change out both sides, driver & passenger?

Driver's side died earlier this year. Under CPO, only failed items get replaced...

I have the same year and model with about the same miles and Just did my drivers side last month. Planning on fixing it myself next time, ECS has a pretty cool tool for putting them on without having to remove the axle!

I never even realized till now that it could be done that way....This method is probably easier with the car on a lift as opposed to jack stands though?
