Question check oil level read out

check oil level read out repeatedly shows on the instrument cluster display, oil checks ok could this be another alert indicator of some other issue? 03 X5 4.4

if the oil level is correct then u could have a bad oil level sensor.

I kinda of thought that could be a sensor issue just checking and not wanting to get bogged down with a service center always so much bs . . . thanks

Oil level warning display
E53, E39
Complaint: At the end of a journey, the oil level warning display appears, even though the oil level is correct.
Cause: Encoding data error in Light Check Module (LCM)
Affected vehicles: E39, E53 with xenon lights (option 522)
Manufacturing period:
E39: March 2003
E53: October 2002 to March 2003
Note:
Some other vehicles without xenon lights are also affected.
Procedure: Only recode the LCM in the event of customer complaint.
DIS CD 34.0 or a later version is needed.
DIS CD 34.0 is scheduled to be published in June 2003.
Reimbursement: Material and labour costs incurred can be claimed through the usual warranty channels subject to current warranty terms.
Defect code 62 11 96 18 00
This defect code is not contained in the official Defect Code Catalogue but has been included in the system, thus enabling warranty claims to be processed.
Within the scope of a visit to the workshop - Recode LCM
Job number 00 54 684
Labour 2 FRUs
In the event of an order without additional repair operations -
Recode LCM
Job number 00 54 116
Labour 4 FRUs
Warranty type 1
Warranty stage 1 (within vehicle warranty)
2 (outside vehicle warranty)
Only one of the above job numbers may be submitted for reimbursement.
Reimbursement is limited to

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Easiest thing would be to have the oil level sensor changed with your next oil change, which fixes it 90% of the time. Then if the check oil level message comes back erroneously again have the LCM (lighting control module) recoded as per the above service bulletin.
