Unhappy Bad MAF

Hello all,
First time post. I reecently just started having problems with my 2002 3.0 X5. The car is running rough and the service light came on. Upon pulling the codes I am getting multiple cylinder misfires, and codes 0171, 0174, 1085, and 1083. Reading some of the messages posted I disconnected the MAF and the car did run better. Upon reconnecting the codes were thrown again. I looked for vaccum leaks but found no cracked hoses. Does this sound like the MAF is the culprit? If so, do I replace with OE part from dealer at $480, or do I try aftermarket? Any recommendations?
Thanks,
AC
