Advice Needed: What to look out for?

Well, after my crash with my 01 4.4 I have been on the search for a well maintained 03 4.4. After days of searching I am going to take a look at one later today and I was wondering what the great X5 Community had to say towards advice and such. Anything I should look out for different in the 03 then the 01?

Hey King,
not sure what is your budget but I might be selling my 03 4.4 in IMMACULATE condition with all the options and some really nice upgrades...cool color combo too.
PM me if interested.

If you want a smoother path to improve your stereo/nav/etc, I'd look for a 2004-2006. My biggest $$$ outlay has been trying to update the electronics in my 2001. Gotta have tunes!

side note: mine was originally a Doylestown(PA) lease car. I was amazed it had exactly 36k on it at the end of its 3yr lease. Right!

Philly X5: Thanks but it really looks like I will be getting the one I am taking a look at today, but ill still let you know.

X5FlyBoy: I really didnt mind the stereo of my 01, especially after I upgraded it with the Navigation unit. Worst comes to worst I will update to BSW or do something with the NAVI.

My budget is roughly around 13-14k.

yeah, mine came with 3 blown speakers (2nd owner only had it for a year/<6k) so BSW was the first upgrade, then the 16:9 screen, then the MK4 DVD nav, then the BM53 radio head unit next to the battery, then tried installing bluetooth (only to find I needed the OEM dual coil speakers, but just lately learned I can bypass that by wiring into the BM53 radio plus the console wiring never matched all the install pics others had posted), and the Dice Silverline never worked as advertised (and cost me the 6CD changer) Now Navteq no longer supports the early BMW nav units.

Want a more user friendly nav, my CDs, a better Ipod interface, and handsfree bluetooth. Too much to ask? And oh yeah, the DEPO angel eyes are on the list.
