drivers seat broken

hi has anyone had a sports seat apart,

my 2005 x5 sports drivers seat, thigh support (outer ) seems to be broken.

its as if there is a tubular metal piece that gives it its shape and support and it seems to be broken, if i grab the seat squab, or edge and move it there is a clicking sound like two pieces meeting and then separating.

so i wondered how hard it would be to A: get the seat out and B: remove the leather trim to allow access to the seat frame, and maybe repair it

oh my seats are electric with memory on the drivers side and the under thigh cushion that is extendable.

i,m sorry my description is probably not the best, but the bit that is broken is the side squab that is up raised and cops a hammering every time you get in and out
