Tomcat, I was comparing to all tires, but especially Michelin. As Rosamila points out, HOW you calculate cost is essential.
I routinely get over 60,000 miles on our Michelins through proper rotation and monthly pressure checks. (Currently, nearing 70,000 on our BF Goodrich, side note Michelin owns them and Uniroyal. you can have Michelin technology and value at less cost with these brands). Value is rarely based on the price of the item alone. As my father in law says, "I ain't rich enough to buy the cheap stuff..." |

Okay, got it. You can rotate on same size tires and that will help your mileage. For the staggered 20s I felt as though the vreds would be closest in looks and performance to the Mich Diamaris. Seeing as those don't last super long themselves and cost 2x as much I felt the vreds were my best option. I totally understand the whole cost of ownership idea though I don't always make decisions based solely on it. I drive a BMW SUV while my brother drives a Honda Pilot. Which do you think will be more expensive to own? The simple quote "they better look good @ that price" must have been taken entirely out of context.

Diamaris have not been the performance benchmark for some time now. You can do a search, but a lot of folks have been disappointed with them, they wear out faster than Tiger Woods' condoms. I do like Michelin's Latitude Tour HPs. Got a solid 50,000 miles out of my first staggered set, and just started on my second staggered 19" set. They are pricey on the initial outlay, but excellent bang for buck when you factor in the endurance and excellent wet and dry traction. You should check if they make those in a 20".

I participated in the group buy, and i am not disappointed so far.
I have just over 4K miles on them - still low mileage, but quiet and smooth so far. (Even the wife noticed the change in ride ... so that's a major thumbs up for me) My tire experience so far - 1. Orig Diamaris - Noisy after 15K miles (replaced fronts due to noise at 16K) - Rears Lasted less than 18K miles 2. @ 19K Latitude HP (got credit for low mileage on Diamaris fronts and replaced all 4) - Noisy just after 17K miles - Good thread on fronts, but rears are shot at the center even at 36PSI 3. @ 39K Vreds - so far so good. For my style of driving, handled well both in dry/wet (As wet as AZ conditions get). My expectations - 1. Noise by far is my biggest concern - it really annoys me for whatever reason. Possibly because it takes away from the way the car sounds naturally. Doesn't help that my wife's old lexus and current Acura are much quieter. 2. Mileage > 15K will make this an awesome buy. Since even if i change my tires after 15K for the same, cost would be less than the Latitudes. |

I got the Vredestein Sessanta for my 4.8is in March this year. Compared with the BMW recommended Michelins, the Vredestein are a steal: they cost about half the price and look really nice!
Last week, after 10k km (~ 6k miles) I measured 5mm, which is about 50% wear, which is a lot after one summer season. Also, I noticed that even after a short drive, you can "smell" the softened rubber! I never had that with my Michelins. Bottomline: although, I would expected a tire to last much longer, I will stick with the Vredesteins! Given the significant price difference, I can buy 2x sets of Vredestein, before reaching a break-even with the Michelins. Also, the Vredesteins are very quiet and comfortable to drive with. Depending on how you drive, the Michelins may tend to build an annoying saw tooth profile. Claus-Henning |

Vredestein tire feedback
First, what I have:
Vehicle: 2004 4.8is Wheels: Replica X6M wheels, 20x10 & 20x11 Adapters: Can't remember but its either 25mm or 30mm spacers in the rear Tires: Stock sizes of 275/40-20 & 315/35-20 Experience & Observations: - Vehicle used daily by "aggressive" driver not someone who accelerates slow or corners slowly. - Even tire wear on the front and rear tires. The rears have slightly more wear in the middle - very slight. - Reached 14K miles and have reached the tread-wear indicactor. Tires still on the car but will change to snow tires when the bad weather hits. Front tires have plenty of tread left. - These are summer performance tires. In general, summer tires are not designed to last as long as other types. Overall I would say these have performed about the same as the Yokohama Advans I had before. However, the Advans were on different size wheels (20x9.5) and different sized tires (265 & 295). Read into that whatever you like. So, as far as tire wear, these have lasted about the same as what I've experienced in the past. My experience has been to go through 2 sets of rear tires for every 1 set of front tires. 14K-15K miles is what I normally get out of each rear set of tires. BOTTOMLIME: I like these tires and I dont' think they're bad at all. Here are some pics: Last edited by TwinsPoppa; 10-28-2011 at 12:15 PM. |

I just bought Vredestein for my staggered 19 summer wheels. I have seen som other forum recommended these and I think the ride is very good and silent. but I almost asume they will wear "quick" when they are so silent. But I bought these for around 1200usd and the bwm dealer wanted 3100usd for some goodyear. so it was a easy choice for me.

Vredestein
I get the distinct impression that some of the people buying Vredestein tires are expecting to wear like a regular all season Bridgestone product. That's just not a reasonable expectation for a high performance summer tire.
