But it is good to discover this now instead of in the middle of a Cleveland winter. |

Don't know about the Mintex brakes, but w/ the Axxis you need to bed them. Make sure to check....

I've got to replace my rear pads now, and my mechanic has recommended Mintex. He hasn't used Axis before.
How have the Mintex been for those who have used them? Should I go with the Mintex, or push him to use Axis? Thanks, Andy E. Sarasota, FL '01 Blk X4 4.4 Sport |

The Mintex brakes have been fine. There is much less brake dust than the charcoal based factory brakes.

My local BMW mechanic (Motor Works West) used to recommend and sell Axxis Deluxe pads until a few years ago... apparently they changed their compound slightly, and the result was several complaints of warped rotors. However, my mechanic said that he has never seen this happen on BMWs with big, robust rotors (X5s, M5s, etc... ) He said they should be fine on my X5, and he'd be happy to install them - but I have to buy them on my own.
