I don't want to go to the dealer/stealer but enough is enough. Seems likes it's one thing after another. If I had money to burn, it would be pushed off a bluff. I love the way it runs, but maintenance sucks big time.

Is it the instrument cluster? If so, should be junk yards all over that can send you one. I also have a website you can get nearly dealer cost for original BMW parts I can give you (I don't want to post what it is right away just in case it seems like i'm advertising).

I notice you have around 300,000 miles on your X. I was wondering if thats still on the original transmission and how do you feel about changing the lifetime transmission fluid? I too have an 2002 X5 3.0 with 104,000 miles on it. the only major problem i had was the cold weather oil separator problem(twice...second time happen with the upgraded kit). Do you think the major problems are isolated with the 4 plus liters Xs?
