Without mudflaps. Take chances with 315's sandblasting paint or pay $$$ for custom 3M laminate. |

First thing I added to my used 2001 X5.
Whether you like the look or not, it saves the paint. Out in Idaho, they "seal" the roads by laying down an oily tar coat followed by loose stone. Mainly to prevent moisture getting into cracks, freezing, and then breaking up the road. All that loose stone makes for a thriving windshield replacement industry out there (and lots of people driving with cracked windshields) With all that stone flying around, I have more chips on my hood (past the clear bra) and virtually none behind my wheels.

Your not in a high snow fall area. IMO its the road salt and sinders that cause all the paint chiping, (this past year yes, but not usally) So I vote no flaps. If you were farther north like me, it would be more practical, But I dont use them cuz of the look.
(I know, w/out the flaps my sh!t gets chiped up and looks bad any way... but I'm a right here right now kinda guy.) |

What about 3M protective film in those areas.
The film would be just enough protection to fend off average rocks/grit flying around. Or am I missing something? EDIT: I didn’t see your poll option. I would say definitely go with the custom 3M film. If the paint in those areas are still immaculate then its not too late to protect them.
