Yes sorry imperial gallons and was referring more to urban driving rather then the highway because as u say u can better 30mpg

I was trying to ascertain whether an ecu re-map is going to be worth the money in terms of gain in mpg. The ECU re-map is about £300

I would suspect not, but others may beg to differ. In my experience most diesel re-maps/chips etc are designed for extra performance, not better economy although you may get that as a side benefit.

[QUOTE=X5H;779002]Hi,

Its a 3.0d sport and the computer reads about 23mpg urban.

I fill the tank(£108) and get on average 430miles. Is this about right or am i missing out on something.

I cant see ever getting 30mpg on a standard 3.0d sport![/QUOTE

Maybe you cant see it but most other 3.0d owners here(like me) are getting over 30 mpg .

OP is specifically taking urban driving and I don't think that 23mpg is unreasonable depending of course on how congested that urban driving is. My 3.0d will get 33mpg on the highway but it quickly drops to mid 20s in an urban environment. On the link you provided most owners are reporting highway figures or, at best, mixed driving. The official EU test urban figure for the 3.0d is 24.7mpg and typically the EU test is optimistic.

30mpg urban(around town) not highway or mixed driving is unheard of unless someone has had theirs re-maped for better performance and economy....

Have been looking at black code remaps. Anyone had any experience of having their X5 re-mapped by these guys? If so how did you get on please

I can't see how that will improve mpg, especially urban.
