Have a Diesel - Webasto also - was really thinking that I could heat manual - at least between opening the doors and putting the skis in. Need to go and ask BMW what I will have to pay for that function. Winters are cold in the Alps .... ![]() Regards, H |

You can do a mod for £35 where you buy a relay and remote. You wire the relay to the pre-heater from a 12v supply. You then use the remote to switch the relay and therefore give the pre heater a 12v supply giving you heat. If you search this forum you will see a really good "how to" that will show you in detail how to wire it up.

If my OBC screen reads Aux Ventilition and I am able to set the time at which it comes on and I have the unit under the bonnet and also the exhaust under the car (quite cute I may add) does that mean that I can wire up the remote kit available from Maplins or do I need the unit recoded at a dealers first. In other words does the OBC screen read 'Aux Heating' rather than 'Aux Ventilation' when recodoed. I have read sooo many posts everywhere about this but I am still unsure whether having the unit means that the vehicle has the heating facility or not.

I don't know what you mean by an 'aux heater'. Is this different/separate to the climate control?
Was just wondering if you had the vent wheel in the centre of the dash in the right place, ie in the hot position? I forgot I had them in the cold position one year, then the cold snap came, thought my heater matrix (or something) was buggered then realised I had to turn the wheel to the three red dots instead of the blue!

OK, so I purchased the remote kit and fitted it fine. The Webasto unit fired up and all was well. The pre-sets on the remote are set at 1 hour and .5secs (its a two channel remote) so I wired it to the hour channel output. Then I thought that this seems too long so changed the time that it is active to 15mins as didn't want to run the battery down if the button was accidently pushed and the unit stayed on for the full hour. The only trouble is the unit does not stay on for long enough to clear the ice from the windscreen regardless of how long the timer is set for.
My question therefore is, is there a preset time that the unit remains on for eventhough there is current being fed into it?
